Excessive Sweating

Since the introduction of Botulinum Toxin ( commonly known as BOTOX™) as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of strabismus, its therapeutic applications have expanded into many different fields including dentistry, medicine and facial aesthetics. Varied applications include treatment of blepharospasm, neurome, Bell’s palsy, facial asymentry and bruxism.
More recently botulinum toxin has found uses in the treatment of hyperydrosis, a chronic disorder of excessive sweating that can affect any part of the body including underarms, palms and feet.
Excessive sweating is resistant to all types of deodorants and odour controlling medications. It can be emotionally challenging, and socially and professionally disruptive.
Botulinum Toxin is an effective, simple, safe and minimally invasive treatment for excessive sweating. The treatment involves a series of small injections that paralyze the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands and the effects last from 4 to 6 months.
